Guest lecture (03-04-2024)

PCM S.D. College for Women in Jalandhar hosted a Guest Lecture on ‘Creative Writing,’ organized by Department of Punjabi. The event featured esteemed speakers, Dr. Harpreet Singh (Associate Professor) and Dr. Satwant Singh (Assistant Professor) from Department of Punjabi, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara.
Dr. Satwant Singh provided a comprehensive overview of the essential elements of literary creation, while Dr. Harpreet Singh shared insightful anecdotes from his own experiences, emphasizing the aesthetic components of poetry and storytelling, and encouraging students to explore their writing abilities. The students actively engaged with the experts, demonstrating enthusiasm and curiosity during the Question-answer session. Dr. Anju Bala skillfully managed the proceedings, and Mrs. Akwinder Kaur delivered a vote of thanks.
The event garnered praise from President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other esteemed members of the managing committee, and Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar, who commended the efforts of the Punjabi department.






International Guest Lecture (06-03-2024)

Prem Chand Markanda S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar organized an enlightening International Guest Lecture, titled “Ajoki Pidi Da Vedeshan Wal Ruzhaan,” collaboratively hosted by the Department of History and the Department of Punjabi.
Sukhi Bath, the esteemed Founder of Punjab Bhawan Sari in Canada, served as the distinguished resource person for the day. The event began with a warm floral welcome extended to Sukhi Bath by Principal Prof. Dr. Pooja Prashar. The Principal provided a brief overview of the institution, setting the stage for the forthcoming insightful discussions.
In his enlightening speech, Sukhi Bath delved into the intricacies of cultural shifts experienced by the diaspora, providing valuable insights and perspectives on the theme. He shared anecdotes and experiences, fostering a deeper understanding of the topic among the audience.
Expressing gratitude, Mrs. Kawaljit Kaur, Head of the Department of History, delivered a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, while Dr. Anju Bala from the Department of Punjabi effectively managed the stage. The lecture proved to be highly beneficial, fostering cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.
President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, the honorable members of the Managing Committee, and the worthy Principal congratulated the organizing departments for the successful execution of the event.







International Seminar to celebrate 'Maat Bhasha Divas' (22-02-2024)

Department of Punjabi held an International Seminar on the topic ‘Punjabi Bhasha: Mahatav, Sambhavnavan Ate Chunautiyan’ in collaboration with Jagat Punjabi Sabha, Canada.
The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamb. In the Inaugural Session, Dr. Simarjit Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Punjabi delivered a welcome address to the luminaries. It was followed by a formal address by Madam Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar. Dr Ajaib Singh Chathha, Chairman, Jagat Punjabi Sabha, Canada was the speaker of this session. He illustrated the need to preserve our mother tongue to other foreign languages in a bid to stick to our cultural roots. It is imperative to interact in Punjabi, as a language, since it’s a cultural repository of discipline and moral ethics.
In the First Technical Session, Sardar Sardool Singh Thiarha, President, Jagat Punjabi Sabha, Canada, too expressed his opinions on upholding the integrity of the language. He laid emphasis on the importance of discipline in one’s life, the urgency to revere teachers, who remain the gurus for life and urged students to make a judicious use of social-networking sites.
Dr Santokh Singh Sandhu, Secretary, Jagat Punjabi Sabha, Canada ensured that longevity of Punjabi language is crucial to the times.

During the Second Technical Session, Sardar Kulwinder Singh Thiarha, President, Jagat Punjabi Sabha, Canada delivered his discourse on the relevance of mother tongue and shared his experiences worldwide in propagating the utility of Punjabi language.
Principal Harkirat Kaur, Vice President, Jagat Punjabi Sabha, India too enunciated that our mother tongue will never cease to exist and it will always remain with us wherever we travel.
Mrs Balwinder Kaur Chathha, Chief Officer, PUBPA, Canada also witnessed the event.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs Akwinder Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Punjabi. Stage was successfully handled by Dr Anju and Dr Simar Kaur, Assistant Professors, Department of Punjabi.
President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar conveyed heartfelt appreciation for the exemplary efforts exhibited by the department for the successful culmination of the event.



International Conference (14-02-2024)

 In a significant academic endeavor, the Department of Punjabi of Prem Chand Markanda S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar in collaboration with the Department of History, organized an International Conference. The event, themed “Historical Monuments of Punjab with Special Reference to Saragarhi,” brought together scholars and experts to delve into the rich historical legacy of Punjab.
The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and invoking the blessings of the Almighty. After which floral welcome was offered to the dignitaries by Principal Prof. Dr. Pooja Prashar. The worthy Principal welcomed the guests and gave a brief description about the Institution setting the tone for the insightful discussions to follow.
The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Gurinderpal Singh Josan, Founder President of Sikhs in America and Chairman of the Saragarhi Foundation. His address provided valuable perspectives on the historical significance of Saragarhi and its relevance in today’s context.He also highlighted the significant role of Sikhs in preserving and safeguarding Sikh history.
The Technical Session I witnessed a thought-provoking address by Chief Guest Dr. Madhu Prashar, a Former Principal and National and State awardee, illuminated the audience with profound insights into the historical monuments of Punjab. Drawing from her wealth of experience, Dr. Prashar intricately connected the past with the present, unraveling the layers of significance embedded in Punjab’s rich heritage. Her words not only educated but inspired, fostering a deep appreciation for the cultural tapestry that defines the region.
S. Harjit Singh Sodhi from the USA, President of Mission Baba Nanak was the first resource person
The session further featured esteemed resource persons. S. Harjit Singh Sodhi from the USA, President of Mission Baba Nanak was the first resource person. He discussed the essence of Guru Nanak’s mission, emphasizing the importance of three pillars of the Sikh way of life Naam Japo, Kirat Karo and Vand Chhako.
The second resource person Prof. Harpinder Kaur from Brampton, Canada shed light on the historical significance of Punjab, emphasizing the profound contributions and teachings of Sikh Gurus.
Our next resource person, Dr. Surinder Narula, Renowned Punjabi Writer, contributed valuable perspectives on the conference theme, enriching the scholarly exchange. She also elaborated on various idioms featured in her book, each conveying profound life experiences.
Technical Session-II included a special ceremony for releasing a books by Dr. Gurinderpal Singh Josan’s ‘Chandni Chowk da Saheed’ and ‘Mission Saragarhi,’ along with Surinder Narula’s ‘Punjabi Akhaan Sarchana ta Sachaar Vidaan were released. After that Momentos were given to the guests.
Mrs. Kawaljit Kaur, Head of the Department of History, extended a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and contributors.Dr.Anju Bala, Department of Punjabi handled the stage effectively.
The Conference proved to be a platform for scholarly exchange, promoting a deeper understanding of Punjab’s historical monuments.

Lohri Dhiyan Di (15-01-2024)

Department of Punjabi of  PCM S.D. College for Women joyously celebrated ‘Lohri Dhiyan Di,’ an exuberant festival marking the harvest season, with a plethora of cultural activities. The event, held at the college premises, was graced by the presence of Mitiksha, a delightful three-month-old, daughter of Dr. Aru, Assistant Professor in the Department of Music (Instrument), as the esteemed chief guest. The atmosphere was filled with vibrancy as students and faculty gathered around a beautifully adorned bonfire, symbolizing the warmth of community and cultural unity.
The event featured traditional Punjabi folk music, dance performances, and an array of delicious festive treats. Participants enthusiastically exchanged wishes and delighted in the traditional customs associated with Lohri, fostering a sense of cultural pride and camaraderie. President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, the other honourable members of the Management Committee and the worthy Principal Prof. Dr. Pooja Prashar expressed joy at the overwhelming participation and emphasized the importance of preserving and cherishing Punjabi traditions. They also commended the efforts of Department of Punjabi for successfully organizing the event.

Literary Competition under 'Punjabi Month November 2023' (03-11-2023)

Department of Punjabi of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar organized a Literary Competition under ‘Punjabi Month November 2023'. The aim of the event was to connect students with Punjabi language and to familiarise them with its importance.
Students participated enthusiastically in Essay Writing competition and Question-answering competition related to Punjabi dialect and language.
President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar praised the students who participated in the competition and appreciated the efforts of the department for conducting these activities in context of  Punjabi language.




Workshop on 'Natak, Ikangi and Nukkar Natak' (14-10-2023)





 The Punjabi Department of the college organized a workshop on the topic  'Natak , Ikangi and Nukkar Natak'.  The keynote speaker of the workshop was  Nayan Awasthi, a member of SWA, IFTDA, IPRS and IPTA  from Mumbai.Mr. Awasthi imparted invaluable insights to the engaged students, elucidating the distinctions between Natak, Ekangi and Nukkar Natak.
Furthermore, he delved into the intricacies of stagecraft, shedding light on essential techniques such as lighting and blocking that contribute to the success of a theatrical production. In a comprehensive manner, he expounded on the crucial facets of stage performance and elucidated the different components of a stage.



Mela Teean Da (18-08-2023)

The Cultural Enlightenment Cell in collaboration with Department of Punjabi of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar celebrated 'Teej' in all its exuberance and glory. Mrs Chander Mohini Markanda, member of the managing committee was the chief guest of the day. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar accorded a formal welcome to the chief guest. The event began with the lighting of ‘Jaago diyas’. 
Students and staff members took part in all merriment. Students exhibited their intrinsic talents through folk dance and folk songs. 
As the echoes of laughter, dance and celebration resonated through the campus, the Teej festivities encapsulated the essence of cultural heritage and community bonding. These traditions, woven with threads of unity and joy, served as a reminder of the richness of our heritage and the strength of our collective spirit. 
Nail Art, Mehndi and bangle stalls were put up. A swing was laid down in the college premises to enliven the ancient heritage of this festival which is observed every year in the monsoons as a cheery reminiscence to the Punjabi culture and its ambience by the newly-wedded women who visit their parents' houses and immerse themselves in festive mirth. On the ocassion, RJ ACP Sandy from 91.9 FM Radio City visited the campus. He asked questions from the students about the relevance of ‘Teej’.
It is worth mentioning that the festival is also celebrated in other parts of the country wherein it transcends religious boundaries.

 Slogan Writing Competition (21-03-2023)

PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar pays  homage  to Shaheeds Bhagat Singh,  Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru. PCM  S.D.College  for Women, Jalandhar paid rich tributes to martyrs  Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru  on the occasion of Shaheedi Diwas. Different activities including Poetical Recitation, Slogan Writing and  Play were organised by Department  of History, Department  of Punjabi and the NCC unit of the college respectively to recall the sacrifice of freedom fighters. A large number of students from all departments participated in the activities enthusiastically to celebrate historic Martyrs’ Day and presented inspiring poems and patriotic songs. The  light was also  shed on the inspiring lives of these three heroes through a play to sensitize the students regarding the supreme sacrifices made by these great souls for the sake of the nation.

                                                    
 

                                                    Poster Making Competition (22-02-2023)

Department of Punjabi organized Poster Making Competition on ‘Importance of Mother Tongue’. Around 20 students of different classes participated. The objective of this competition was to give an opportunity to the students to showcase their creative potential and inculcate a sense of patriotism in them. The judge of this competition was Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Head of Department of Fine Arts. Divya of B.Sc. Semester II secured first position. Priya of BA Semester VI bagged second position and Deepu Rana of BA. B.Ed Semester IV bagged third position. Apart from this, Pooja of BA Semester VI bagged first consolation prize, Puneet of B.Com Semester VI bagged second consolation prize and Sneha of B.Com Semester II bagged third consolation prize. President Naresh Kumar Budhia Ji, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada Ji, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Parashar congratulated the achievers and appreciated the department for conducting such competitions.
                                                           

   Elocution competition (07-11-2022)   
 
Punjabi Department of PCM S.D College for Women, Jalandhar organized an elocution competition on the life and teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The main objective of this event was to reconnect the students with the teachings, principles and ideals of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Around sixteen students from different streams participated in the competition with full zeal. In this competition, Harsimran of B.A Semester I and Navjot of B.A B. Ed SemesterI stood first, Pooja of B.A Semester V stood second and Arshdeep od B.A.B.Ed Semester V got the third prize. Not only this, Preeti B.A Semester I got the consolation prize.
President Shri Naresh Kumar Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada and other honourable members of the Management Committee and the worthy Principal Prof. Dr. Pooja Parashar congratulated the students for their participation.She also appreciated the efforts of the Department of Punjabi for organizing the activity.

                                                              Essay Writing Competition (3-10-2022)

Commemorating the birth anniversary of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhiji, an Essay Writing Competition was organised by the  Amrita Pritam Sahitya Sabha (Punjabi Department) of PCM S.D College for Women, Jalandhar on the topic "Ahinsa Ke Pujari: Mahatma Gandhi"  About fifteen students from different streams participated enthusiastically in this competition and wrote essays on Mahatma Gandhi's life, personality and ideology.  In this  competition,   Pooja of  B.A Semester V  got first position,  Geetika and Loveleen  of B.A Semester V got second position  and  Mamata Walia and Preeti of B.A Semester I  secured the third position.  The winning students in this competition were awarded with prizes.  President Naresh Kumar Budhia ji, other honorable members of the Management Committee and the worthy  Principal Prof.  (Dr.) Pooja Parashar ji congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Punjabi  for conducting such events for the all-round development of students.

Poetry Recitation Competition 

Department of Punjabi held Poetry Recitation in commemoration of Amrita Pritam on the occasion of her 103rd Birth Anniversary. Students of varied streams exhibited their oratory skills to finesse. The poems they spoke encapsulated myriads of themes that predominated in the poetry of Amrita Pritam, a legendary figure and one of the precursors in the realm of Punjabi Female PoetryStudents participated with zest and zeal. Komal of BA Semester V bagged first prize. Pooja of BA Semester V made it to second position and Himanshi of BA Semester III managed it to third position. Rukanshu, Akanksha and Damini, students of B.Com Semester I each received Consolation prizes. President Naresh Kumar Budhiya Ji, other benevolent members of the managing committee and reverent Principal Prof ( Dr.) Pooja Prashar felicitated the achievers as well as students for their participation and sheer courage in putting their best foot forward.




                                                'Teeyan Teej Diyan'(2022-23)

PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar celebrates 'Teeyan Teej Diyan' with great enthusiasm. The Youth Club and Department of Punjabi of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar celebrated 'Teeyan Teej Diyan' with much fervour and gaiety in order to mark the traditional welcome of monsoon by one and all. Mrs Chander Mohini Markanda and Dr.(Mrs.) Kiran Arora were the chief guest of the day. Students and staff members took part in all merriment.The environment throbbed with folk dance and rendering of folk songs by the students. Adding rich hues to the occassion were multiple stalls of mehndi and bangle stalls .A swing was laid down in the college premises to enliven the ancient heritage of the festival of Teej exemplifying love and fertility.
    The festival is observed every year in the monsoons as a cheery reminiscence to the Punjabi culture and its ambience by the newly-wedded women who visit their parents' houses and revel in festive glee with their sisters and friends. It is worth mentioning that the festival is also celebrated in other parts of the country wherein it transcends religious boundaries.

Poster making competition

Amrita Pritam Sahit Sabha (Punjabi Department) of PCM S.D College for Women, Jalandhar organises Poster Making Competition

 A Poster Making competition on the theme 'Save Water Save Life' was organized by Amrita Pritam Sahit Sabha (Punjabi Department) at PCM S.D College for Women, Jalandhar.  In which students from the different streams  participated enthusiastically. Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur  (Department of Fine Arts) acted as  judge. In this competition, Isha of B.Com Semester II and  Ashima Chopra of B.A   Semester IV  won first prize.Not only this,  Sandesh Preeti of  B.Sc (Computer Science) Semester II bagged second prize and Rajni of  B.A Semester IV grabbed third prize.  Apart from this, Goveshna of  B.A B.Ed Semester IV and Loveleen of  BA Semester IV received consolation prizes.  The honourable members of the Managing Committee and the worthy  Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Parashar congratulated the winning students.She said that such competitions play a vital role in the overall development of the students. She also appreciated the Department of   Punjabi for successfully organizing the event.  All the faculty members  of Punjabi Department were present on the occasion.

The  Folk Song competition was organized by Amrita Pritam Sahit Sabha of the Department of Punjabi. In this competition, students from different streams participated enthusiastically.The judges of the competition were Anu Bala, Department of Music and Dr. Surinder Kaur and Mrs.Akwinder Kaur from Department of Punjabi.In this competition, Navroop Kaur from.B.Com Semester VI got first, Ramandeep Karur and Harsharan Kaur   of B.A Semester IV won second and Darshan Kaur of B.A Semester II  secured third position. The honourable members of the Managing Committe and the worthy Principal Dr. (Mrs.)Pooja Prashar congratulated the winners.She also praised the efforts of the Department of Punjabi for organising such events for the all-round development of the students.



Seminar  on International Mother Language Day 

Seminar  on International Mother Language Day at PCM S.D.College for Women ,Jalandhar

Department of Punjabi of PCM S.D College for Women, Jalandhar  organized a Seminar on the occasion of  International Mother Language Day.The speakers of the day were Mrs. Parveen Abrol, President, NGO, Divya Drishti and Dr.Surinder Kaur Narula former Head and Associate Professor in the Department of Punjabi ,PCM S.D.College.The event commenced with a floral welcome to the guests.While addressing the students, Mrs.Parveen Abrol said that Punjabi is language of Gurus and Peers as well as it connects punjabi culture to others on international level.She also added that  one's emotions and feelings were efficiently presented through the mother language. The next speaker of the day Dr.Surinder Narula stated the importance of the Punjabi language and encouraged the students to respect their mother language and their rich Punjabi culture. The Principal of the college Dr.(Mrs.) Pooja Prashsr also addressed the students and apprised them about the importance and history of the day.At the end, Dr Surinder Kaur,Head,  Department of Punjabi, extended vote of thanks to the guests and the participants. The honourable members of the Managing Committee and Principal lauded the endeavours of the Department of Punjabi  for organizing such constructive lectures.The stage was conducted by Dr.Harkamal Kaur,  Department of Punjabi.The event was also graced by Mrs. Ujla Dada Joshi, Head, Department of English, Dr. Neelam Gupta, Head, Department of Sanskrit, Mrs.Akwinder Kaur and Mrs.Ritu Gill.

A Guest Lecture was  organized by Amrita Pritam Sahit Sabha of the  Department of Punjabi of the college on the birth anniversary of  Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.The topic of the event was 'Importance of Guru Nanak Dev's Bani in Contemporary World'.The key speaker of the event was Dr.(Mrs.) Neena Mittal,(HOD, Department of Hindi). She   familiarized the students with the life, ideology and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. She also guided the  students about the  importance of Kirat in one's life. The honourable members of the Managing Committee and the worthy Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Pooja Prashar  congratulated the endeavours of the  Department of Punjabi for organising such constructive lectures. It proved a beneficial session for the students.


Slogan writing competition on  topic  "MaaBoli Da Mahatav"

To commemorate of 75th anniversary of India's freedom as Azadi ka Mahotsav Department of Punjabi organized a slogan writing competition on 13th November 2021.The topic of the competition was "MaaBoli Da Mahatav".In this competition twenty eight students from various streams participated enthusiastically. This competition was organized to give an opportunity to the students to display their presentation skills and also to instill a spirit of patriotism among them. The judge of the event was Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur (HOD Department of Fine Arts). In this competition Arshpreet Kaur of B.A.B.Ed semester -5th got first prize, Jaspreet Kaur B.Com semester -1st grabbed second prize and Esha of B.Com semester -1st and Firdoush of B.A.B.Ed semester -5th grabbed third prize. In addition of this of Asha of B.A.B.Ed semester -5th got consolidation prize.The honourable members of the managing committee and the worthy Principal of the college Dr. Pooja Prashar congratulated the winners and praised the efforts of the Department of Punjabi for organizing such events for the overall development of the students.  


 Declamation Competition on topic  "Bharat Di Azadi Ate Bharti Loktantar Di Sathapna                                     Wich Punjabian Da Yogdhan"

Department of Punjabi of PCM S.D.College for Women, Jalandhar holds Declamation Competition 

The Declamation Competition was organized by the Department of Punjabi of the college under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner -Cum-District Election officer, on the topic "Bharat Di Azadi Ate Bharti Loktantar Di Sathapna Wich Punjabian Da Yogdhan".Almost twelve students from various streams participated enthusiastically. In this competition, Arshpreet Kaur of B.A.B.Ed semester -5th got first position, Harpreet Kaur of B.Com sem-3rd won second position and Sakshi of B.Com Sem -1st secured third position. The honourable members of the managing committee and the worthy Principal Dr.Pooja Prashar Congratulated the winners. She also praised the efforts of the Department of Punjabi for organizing such events for the all-round development of the students. 


 Online inter -disciplinary lecture on topic  "How To Use Computer In Easy Way" 
An online inter -disciplinary lecture was organized by Amrita Pritam sahit sabha (Punjabi department) of PCM S.D.College for women, Jalandhar.Assistant professor department of Computer Science Miss Annie Ahuja gave a lecture on the topic "How To Use Computer In Easy Way".They provided detailed information about creating PDF, E-mailing, about google translate, surfing, downloading apps, downloading photos etc. Fifty students of various streams participated in this lecture. The honourable members of the managing committee and worthy Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar praised this effort. This lecture was informative for all the students and teachers.

An  Inter Class Essay Writing Competition was  organized by Amrita Pritam Sahit Sabha (Punjabi Department)  on the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Ram Das Ji on October 22, 2021.  The topic of the essay was "Life and Compositions of Guru Ram Das Ji". In this competition, almost twenty eight students from different streams participated enthusiastically. The students who gained first , second and third positions were awarded by prizes.The honourable members of the Managing Committe and the worthy Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Pooja Prashar  congratulated the winners.She also praised the efforts of the Department of Punjabi for organising such events for the all-round development of the students.

Teej Festival

Department of Punjabi of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar celebrated 'Teej' in all its resplendence and glory. Mrs Chander Mohini Markanda was the chief guest of the day. Students and staff members took part in all merriment. Students exhibited their intrinsic talents through folk dance and folk song. Mehndi and bangle stalls were put up. A swing was laid down in the college premises to enliven the ancient heritage of the festival of Teej exemplifying love and fertility.
    The festival is observed every year in the monsoons as a cheery reminiscence to the Punjabi culture and its ambience by the newly-wedded women who visit their parents' houses and revel in festive glee with their sisters and friends. It is worth mentioning that the festival is also celebrated in other parts of the country wherein it transcends religious boundaries.
    Reverent Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Pooja Prashar and the magnanimous management of the institution commended the endeavours of the department in perpetuating the legacy of the yearly fiesta across generations.

Webinar on the topic "Navi Punjabi Khani De Naksh"

Punjabi  Department of PCM S.D.College for  Women, Jalandhar organized a Webinar on the topic "Navi Punjabi Khani De Naksh".Resource Person of the webinar was Dr. Des Raj Kali (writer and journalist). Teachers and students of various colleges participated in the webinar.All the participants were given E-certificates.

Webinar on the topic "Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Di Samaj Te Sabhyachar Nu Den"

Punjabi department of PCM S.D.College for Women, Jalandhar organized a Webinar to commemorate the ninth Guru of Sikh religion, Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on the occasion of his 400th birth anniversary. The topic of the webinar was "Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Di Samaj Te Sabhyachar Nu Den".Dr. Karamjit Singh (Former Professor and Head of Punjabi Department, Kurukeshtra University) was the resource person of the day. He said that Guru ji had shown us the way to a true, pious and contented life. Dr. Karamjit Singh ji also emphasized that besides reading Bani, knowledge of history is also very important. By reading the words of Bani and understanding their meaning, life should be changed accordingly. Teachers and students of various colleges participated in the webinar.This webinar was informative for all. 


                      Online Declamation Contest                                            
Department of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar organized an online Declamation Contest  on the occasion of 400th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Girls from various  colleges of Jalandhar participated in this competition. The topic of the competition was "Dharam Rakhyak :Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The students made a video and sent their speeches.In this competition Kumari Vaishali (B.com semester-3rd, PCMS.D. College for Women, Jalandhar) got  first position , Kumari Pahulpreet (B.com sem-3rd, G.N.D.U College, Jalandhar) got second position and Kumari Jasmine (B.com sem-5th,G.N.D.U College, Jalandhar) got third position. All the participants were given E-certificates. College Principal Dr. Kiran Arora  Congratulated to all.

Punjabi Department of PCM S.D.College for Women Jalandhar, organized a Online Webinar dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The topic of the webinar was "Ajoke Dour Wich Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Di Bani Di Parsangikta".Resource Person of the Webinar was Dr. Inderjit Singh Vassu (Former Principal, Navbharat College ,Naroor).Principal Dr. Kiran Arora extended a cordial welcome to the participants and  the resource person.This Webinar was attended by teachers and students of various colleges of Punjab.Principal Dr.  Kiran Arora Congratulated the Punjabi department for the success of the Webinar.

Online Essay Writing Competition on the topic The Guru 'S biography and teachings

Re-accredited  with A+ grade by NAAC, PCMS. D. College for Women ,Jalandhar held an Online Essay Writing Competition on the occasion of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji 's 400th birth anniversary organized by Department of Punjabi. The Guru 'S biography and teachings were the topics of the competition. Students of varied streams participated in the same. The objective of the event was to instill in students positivity by living a nobel life  modelled on the doctrines of Gurbani. Winners of the competition were honored with cash prizes by Principal Dr. Kiran Arora. Arshpreet Kaur bagged first position and received a cash prize of Rs. 1000,Shivani received second prize with a cash of Rs. 700,and Nagma singh made it to third position with a cash prize of Rs. 500.Principal applauded the achievers on their success. 


Speech Competition on the topic "Jaswant Singh Kawal Di Punjabi Sahit Nu Den"

Punjabi Department of PCM S.D.College for Women, Jalandhar organized a Speech Competition on the topic "Jaswant Singh Kawal Di Punjabi Sahit Nu Den".Students from all streams of the college took part in the competition.The First, Second and Third place Students were awarded prizes by Principal Dr.Kiran Arora. She Congratulated the Punjabi department. 


"Teej Festival"

"Teej Festival"was organized by Department of Punjabi with cultural and artistic joviality. Students participated with utmost vigour and zeal. Reverent Principal Dr. Kiran Arora was the Chief Guest, who received a cordial welcome in the hands of Mrs.Surinder Narula, Head of the Department. She emphasized the relevance of daughters in the family as prized jewels. Participants captivated the audience with traditional folk songs, bhangra and giddah.Principal acknowledged the efforts of the department in reminiscing our rich cultural roots. Modelling was also organized and winners were bestowed with prizes. Vaishali was given the title of "Teeyan Di Rani",Shivani was chosen as "Gutt Nagni"and Manmeet Kaur was selected as "Kad Sarun".

Amrita Pritam Sahit Sabha Punjabi Department of the college was organized a guest lecture.Lecture was given by S. Davinder Singh (Retired Producer Akash Bani ,Shimla) on the occasion of 300th anniversary of Bhai Ghania ji. 


 "Mela Teeyan Da"
Punjabi Department of the college Celebrated "Mela Teeyan Da" with fanfare. Madam Principal of the college Dr. Kiran Arora was the chief guest of the function. 


Session(2017-2018
 One day international seminar 
 In collaboration with Punjab Bhawan Surrey,Canada,Punjabi Department of the college organized a one day international seminar on Diaspora Literature entitled 'Parvaas Te Parvasi Sahit :Present and Future 'Sixteen resource persons from India and Abroad spoke on different aspects and effect of western lifestyle on Indian diaspora 12 Research Scholars from various educational institutions presented research papers in Punjabi, Hindi on different issues confronting the diaspora.A journal 'Corrocupia-3' was also released on the occasion.

Punjabi Department Celebrated Lohri in college with full zeal and enthusiasm. Madam Principal burned the fire and distributed sweets to students and members.

Punjabi Department of PCM S.D.College for Women Jalandhar celebrated "Teeyan Da Mela".Students enjoyed the function by swinging and dancing on various folk songs. Madam Principal congratulated each one present.
