A series of activities dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

In accordance with the guidelines issued by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and the Department of Higher Education, the Amrita Pritam Sahit Sabha of the Department of Punjabi, PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, in collaboration with the Guru Nanak Study Centre, organized a series of activities dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
The first activity in this series was an inter-class quiz competition on the theme “The Life and Philosophy of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.” Students from various classes participated in teams and were asked questions related to Guru Ji’s life, teachings, and philosophy. In this competition, Team B secured the first position, Team A stood second, and Team C achieved the third place.

The second activity was an inter-class essay writing competition on the topic “The Concept of Impermanence in the Bani of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.” Among the participants, Ashu (B.A. B.Ed Semester I) won the first prize, Kirandeep Kaur (B.A. Semester I) secured the second prize, and Ramandeep Kaur (B.A. B.Ed Semester I) won the third prize. Students participated in both activities with great enthusiasm.
Continuing the series, a seminar on ‘The Life and Philosophy of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’ was organized in which Mrs. Praveen Abrol and S. Jatinder Pal Singh graced the occasion as keynote speakers.

The primary objective of these activities was to acquaint students with the life, martyrdom, and ideology of Hind Di Chadar, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. On this occasion, the Principal of the college, Dr. Pooja Parashar, highlighted that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was the first personality in history who sacrificed his life for the protection of faith and gave the message of humanity, equality, impartiality, and selfless service to mankind.

Guest lecture (3/11/25)

Guru Nanak Study Centre of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar in collaboration with the Department of Punjabi and Department of History organized a special Guest Lecture on the topic ‘Guru Nanak Bani: Universal Solidarity’ to celebrate the 557th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

On this occasion, Dr. Malkiat Singh (Assistant Professor, Department of Punjabi, Trinity College, Jalandhar) participated as the speaker.

Dr. Malkiat Singh, while addressing the audience, discussed the teachings of Guru Ji in the context of universal solidarity. He adduced that one needs to have a secular perspective when it comes to religion, while humanity is the biggest religion of all.

However, under the influence of social media, religious norms are being violated, ammounting to immorality, therefore, we should all keep our morality intact while reading and worshiping. He held that students be familair with ‘Shabad Gyan’ and should have an inclination to read the text to connect with its inordinate influence. He said that there were such revolutionary Gurus who fought for the social interests and rights of every class and spread the message of love and care for nature. Therefore, it is our moral duty to create a harmonious and just society
